Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) on the Keio University GakuNin System

Below is a list of FAQ on the Keio University GakuNin System.

  • I bookmarked the login screen last time, but when I try to access it again with the bookmark, I cannot log in.
    Bookmarking the login screen will not allow you to use the service. Please bookmark the website for each service or the page with a list of services.
  • I just get an error message "Principal is not set" on the error screen, but no login screen is displayed.
    This error occurs when trying to access the login screen from the browser history screen, for example. Please access the service again from the top page of the service or the service list page.
  • When I try to log in to the service, I get the error message that "You (...login ID...) are not allowed to use https://...(URL)...," and I cannot log in.
    Indicates that the site you are trying to access do not allow you to log in with your attributes. For example, faculty and staff members attempt to access a service that is available only to students. Depending on the site, you may not receive this error; instead, you may receive an error on the service provider site to which you return after the login screen, and then, not be able to log in.
  • When I try to log in to the service, I get the error message that "https://...(URL)... does not accept users authenticated by http://gakunin1.keio.ac.jp/idp/shibboleth" and I cannot log in.
    It indicates that the site you are trying to access is set up in such a way that you cannot log in with the authentication results on the Keio University GakuNin System (depending on the site, you may get a blank screen without this error as mentioned in the following question). Even in such a case, it may be possible to be authenticated by means of authentication methods other than Gakuin (e.g., IP address restriction, remote access to e-journals and e-books at the Media Center, etc.).
  • Not a single attribute to be transmitted is displayed on the attribute transmission screen, and when I go further, a blank page appears and I cannot use the service.
    There are many systems that cannot be used through the Keio University GakuNin System even if they are compatible with GakuNin. When you try to log in to such services, no error may occur at the time of login. In such cases, not a single attribute to be transmitted is displayed on the attribute transmission screen, and when I go further, a blank page just appears.   • I have entered the correct ID and password, but I cannot log in.
    There are some possibilities for this.
    1. The Keio University GakuNin System is available to students and faculty members affiliated with Keio University and staff members of Keio’s affiliated schools. I am very sorry to say this is not available for other users.
    2. Not all GakuNin-compliant services are available on the Keio University GakuNin System. Some services are not available for which we do not have a contract or for which we have not yet completed the registration process.
    3. You cannot use the Keio University GakuNin System with your ITC account on the day it becomes available, your keio.jp account on the day it becomes activated, or your SFC-CNS account on the day it becomes available. Try it the next day or later.
    4. If you have not logged in to keio.jp since last December, you will not be able to use the Keio University GakuNin System with your account. Please log in to keio.jp once, and then, try it again the next day or later.
    5. You may not be able to log in properly for a variety of other reasons.
